Security, access to maintenance and crew wellbeing matter as much as the berth itself when choosing a winter base. The captains of four yachts between 23 and 34 metres explain why Marina Port de Mallorca, in the heart of Palma, meets those needs during extended stays.

Security and access to STP Shipyard Palma

Alfredo Mella, captain of the 23-metre sailing yacht Ganesha, says they spend almost eight months a year berthed at the marina. Protecting the yacht and the location of the facilities are key considerations for him.

Mateo Monserrat, captain of the 34-metre motor yacht HYHMÄ, highlights reliable supplies, services and nearby STP Shipyard Palma for maintenance work. The marina and shipyard, both part of IPM-IMG Marine Group, combine a city-centre berth with access to specialist repair and maintenance facilities.

Suppliers, technical teams and crew life

Uwe Dettelbacher, captain of the 32-metre sailing yacht Uriel, values being between two major chandlers: it reduces time spent obtaining materials and gives subcontractors easy access to the yacht. Nearby restaurants and leisure options also benefit the crew during time off.

Nicolas Zingrebbe, captain of the 24-metre motor yacht Sásta, singles out parking for technical teams working on board as a particularly useful feature during winter. He also praises the marina team's helpfulness and professionalism.

The captain of Sásta also highlights support from the wider IPM-IMG Marine Group network in the Balearics, including Marina Ibiza, Marina Port Mahón and STP Shipyard Palma, which expands the service options available when travelling around the islands.

Marina Port de Mallorca has approximately 200 berths for yachts up to 50 metres, 24-hour security and personalised service. For these captains, the combination of safety, technical support and urban amenities makes both onboard work and everyday life easier during the quieter sailing months.
